Not sure when this happened in the last 24 months but iMovie for iPad is dramatically neutered and I’m concerned this happened just to drive revenue towards Final Cut Pro for iPad subscriptions. This has always been a fantastic well featured application throughout the years but a lot of features have been worsened especially the ability to make adjustments to sounds, audio ducking, etc. I use an iPad Pro as my main computer and now I can barely do anything with a piece of software that has been well loved and gets a good workout about every 3 to 4 months- perfect for non YouTubers just making a nice video for friends and family. I don’t want to see cash grabs for no good reason so hopefully there is a better reason for this than my cynical fears.

There was like a different kinds of things you can use for your trailers and stuff and I miss being able to do that. Why would you make a movie when you don’t even have a trailer? Am I wrong? Four stars five if you can still do the original content. By the way, the apps broken. I updated it and it’s still broken. You can’t use the trailers. They’re still available. You just can’t do something correctly because they won’t let you show the photos once you do it by the way they’re so needy to get full access from your photos and your Apple Music AI says I don’t know why you’re trying to make it smarter if it’s gonna take over one day

With so many options for video editing both mobile and desktop, I was feeling overwhelmed. I’m just starting content creation for my business and needed something simpler, especially to ditch the excuse of not starting because of the learning curve. This tool (and iMovie for mac) is really all you need to get started. The learning curve is 5 mins… you literally just learn as you go on to create your first project. Super easy. I was uploading video to social media within minutes and now I know I don’t need hours of editing!

Only sounds playback, not the video

This was great until today, it has an error right now so I hope it will be fixed soon.

When first opening the app, it prompts me to add both photo and music permissions. After allowing photo permissions, I attempted to open and update music permissions through the Settings/general/apps/imovie. Music doesn’t show up in my list of permissions to grant. Tried resetting permissions and location settings, but still no luck.

It’s a cool app at all but when you do the trailers you can’t put with the movies rated, so can we please put with the movie is rated

Unable to stop the app from cropping the top and bottom portions of vertical videos. In the past there was an option to Fit but since the latest update you can’t anymore.

I enjoyed this app for about a year until I started getting error messages when I tried watching my previous movies, the error messages said that iMovie had lost some of my movies and was down loading all of the others, it has been a year and a half and I still can’t watch my movies because of them down loading, this app was fun until I couldn’t watch anything I made.

Hi iMovie Developers, I absolutely love iMovie! I'd love if possible, to see more advanced movie montage options. Masking, the ability to fade one video into another photo/ video in different corners of screen ( cross dissolving) to tell the unique story. Great job

Movies are amazing 🩷!

iMovie works well for splicing together photos and videos or breaking them into smaller chunks; I've enjoyed composing several mini-movies for friends. It is admittedly under-powered: movies over 10 minutes long start to bug-out, so don't take movie literally. Also, getting the feel for the program took quite a while--I think users could benefit from a tutorial project, where they can move around pre-inserted footage and explore iMovie's features. Lastly, I think it would improve the versatility of the audio feature if users could import audio files for use in films. iMovie is by no means the best video mixer out there; for a free and reasonably secure apple service, it's sufficient.

I am trying to make a movie but it keeps loading and I can’t make full films because it lets me access it once and then if I try to go back to it,it loads FOREVER. You should fix this because I DON’T WANT TO MAKE A MILLION ALBUMS FOR MY MOVIES! Please fix this problem so I can make actual films not just trailers.

Have been happy until this past weekend - making new movie, won’t advance past the first picture. Also saved movies won’t play. Rebooted my phone - no change. Deleted and reinstalled - no change.

Recently I’ve noticed so many Apple apps need major updates, they lack so many features that are desperately needed.

Not sure when Apple will come to its senses on portrait videos.. having to edit them in Photos to turn them on their side and then import them into iMovie is a waste of time. The caching is ridiculous too. Download them from iCloud when I’ve selected them, don’t pull down all the data before I can select them..

Best thing ever

Now this app, I recently got a few years ago from my YouTube videos and then I usually use it to just cut out stuff and then I picked it up like a few months ago again and then let me tell you this is the best app ever especially if you make a movies or YouTube videos it’s not a normal editing app. I feel like it’s more for like movies and YouTube videos and it is like amazing like I am your girl in the world by the way and if you wanna check out some of my videos like you can, I do have CapCut, but in my opinion for making and YouTube videos iMovie is better.

The thing that is making me write this review, after using iMovie on iPhone for about 2 years off and on, is the fact that my vertical video is cut into a square and I can’t do anything about it. This, along with when you try to cut a video to a specific length, if you zoom in too much then iMovie will automatically move the screen back to the end of the clip. So you can’t zoom in and cut the ends of clips by small increments. It’s slow and frustrating to use.

I don’t want to give all photo access to this app please let us just select photos.

I wish can imbed the music go along with the videos

Why have a HAVETO TURN on setting (music) when I can’t turn it on in iMovie or settings. The music setting is unrequired or just make it an actual setting in iMovie since it’s not a thing in settings! And it won’t let me play until I do! Fix this!

Ive never been able to get it to do anything on at least 2 different iPhones.

Every time I try to work on a new project, the app will stop letting me access it after a certain point and will crash whenever the project is loaded. This shouldn’t be an issue.

So many features and just great I would definitely recommend!

Hello creators of iMovie, I love this app, but when I use pictures to create a little edit, it doesn’t work. Can you please fix this? I tried to make an edit about my dog, but it only stayed on one image while I watched it! Please tell me why. Thank you

With this app, you can’t go wrong. You can easily cut videos, add or remove audio, add transitions, and almost everything else you might need! If you are thinking about getting this app, don’t hesitate. This app is so useful!

It is an amazing app though I would not recommend for small children because it can sometimes be confusing but over all it’s an amazing app that is good if you want to make a music video, a movie, or even a report. I would highly recommend iMovie if you’re interested in any of these kinds of things.

What was once a user-friendly app is just invasive and annoying. Developers drives this app into the ground.

It used to work great but know ther's a glitch where transitions aren't working. Pls fix it😭😭😭😭

Not working not moving to next picture

Good tool easy to do videos I wish it can with directions and tips for editing better for beginners. Good app for editing though.

Impossible to use. No way to change aspect ratio from vertical to horizontal video, it just crops and letterboxes the video without asking and there's no way to change it. No menus or options whatsoever except for filters (b&w, cartoon, etc) and dark mode interface. Literally those are the options. No project settings, no export settings. Just cartoon or dark mode.

Now I’ve been using this app for a couple months. But now I can’t make any more YouTube videos. whenever I try to export it it just zooms out like it’s supposed to when it usually takes me to the YouTube app to upload it but instead it just zooms out and then takes me back into the app. Please fix.

It’s a good way to make a movie but it does some things that are not very necessary….like it says it wants you to give it the whole access to your photos😥…like why do they want the whole access to your photos?that’s a bit sketchy 😒😥

I love making little short stuff on this app but for some reason iMovie freezes when I try to play it audio works great but the video freezes. It does work after I export it though. Will somebody help me?

Maybe this is just me and I need to research more on this but, I cannot find how to upload music from my Apple Music account. Every time I do it says I need to download the music, so I download it but then another tab pops up saying the download was incomplete. Please let me know if this is happening to you. Besides this, this app is totally great!

This is kinda like my clips review. I like it because it’s like CapCut! But something happened and it doesn’t work for me. Probably because of my storage lol but idk. I guess there’s like a new update or something but I don’t think that’s really great either.. Edit: IT FREEZES. IM COMING FOR YOU Edit 2: no forget wut I said it’s okie 🥹 I like it cuz you can record audio it’s like CapCut and I LOVE that. I can make gacha videos, it’s amazing I luv it!!!
